This tutorial will teach you how to create outline pixel fonts in Paint Shop Pro, such as the one in this aim icon.

First, open the image you wish to place the font on.

Then, create a new image by either click the New image button (pictured below) or going to File - New image. When a box pops up, make sure your width and height are at least over 100x100, depending on the length of your text. Press OK.

Now, press the flood fill tool. (pictured below)

Choose a dark colour that your font will easily be visible against. Hover over the colour choices, and click to select one. Click in your image to fill it with this colour.

Now, select the font tool.

The second colour (white in the image below) will be the inner colour of your font. To change this, select a colour from the palette, and click the arrows pointing between the two.

Choose your font style and size from the options bar - however, make sure 'Floating' is selected, and 'Anti-alias' unchecked.

Making sure you have the font tool selected, click anywhere in the image. A box will pop up. Type in your text, then hit OK.

Now go to Selections - Modify - Expand.

Click OK if a box pops up telling you the text will be defloated.

A box will pop up. Make sure the number is set to '1', and hit OK.

At this point you will want to zoom in to see better. Either go to View - Zoom - Zoom in by 5 steps, or if you have a scroller on your mouse, move it up.

Going back to the flood fill tool, and fill in your chosen colour around the text.

Now, go to Edit - Copy, or press CTRL + C.

Now, select the image you want to put the text on by clicking the top of it. Go to Edit - Paste - Paste as a new selection.

(Image resized, click to view full)
Your text will appear, and use your mouse to move it where you want, clicking when you have placed it correctly.

Click the selection tool, then right-click on the image.

Congratulations! Your image is now finished.
